JS HAMANA conducted a trilateral mission with the U.S.and French partners
On February 19, the Japanese supply ship JS HAMANA (Commanding Officer,CDR IKEDA Masato) conducted a trilateral mission with the U.S.and French partners.
The evolution, a Replenishment at Sea(RAS),was conducted in the East China Sea with the U.S.Navy Destroyer CURTIS WILBUR and French Navy Frigate,PRAIRIAL.
The Commanding Officer of the JS HAMANA emphasized that training and stated that, "the shiphandling capability of the U.S.and French ships engaged in the Replenishment at Sea was very high,and that I fert very comfortable as a fellow mariner engaged in the missions at sea designed to enhance multilateral interoperability."
He also said that,"despite the challenges o the COVID-19 environment,the training was conducted by making the best use of flexibility and mobility that are an important characteristics of an agile navy and we took the necessary risk mitigations.
This event allowed us to enhance our tactical capacity while enhancing cooperation with the U.S. and French forces.
The Self-Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with their important,like-minded partners such as the U.S. and French Navy to contribute to the peace and stability of the region in order to achieve a "Free and open Indo-Pacific"and enforce a Rule-Based International Order.
