The purpose of this Deployment

The purpose of this Deployment is to enhance our operational capability and to promote cooperation and interoperability with our partner navies.
JMSDF is seeking active contribution to the peace and stability in Indo-Pacific region and to deepen and enhance mutual understanding and trust with countries in the region.

Activities

(30, OCT) ISEAD2018 arrived Katsuren port (Okinawa) . ISEAD2018 accomplished their goal which is to enhance their operational capabilities and to promote cooperation with partner navies. Moreover, they have demonstrated active contribution to maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region through strengthening the relationship with our friends in every country they have visited. JMSDF keeps posture of readiness to carry out for any mission.

(29, OCT) The ISEAD2018 is sailing in the Western Pacific.
Under the clear sky , JS KAGA crews conducted a live firing exercise for small arms improved their individual tactical skills. And JS INAZUMA crews restore form stormy preparation and checked the pipes that steam air through as prepare before arrival. And also, JS KAGA has achieved 1000 times safe on & off deck of helicopters.

(28, OCT) The ISEAD2018 is sailing in the East China Sea and ensuring safe navigation in the rough weather.
Crews enjoyed the last recreation in ISEAD2018. They relaxed a short rest and renewed vitality for upcoming any missions.

(27, Oct) The ISEAD 2018 is sailing in the South China Sea.
Despite the rough weather , TG conducted various training to improve their operational capability.
They keep safe navigation and ready to carry out any mission.

(26, Oct) The ISEAD is sailing in the South China Sea. Under the clear sky, they are making every effort to improve their navigation skills and seamanship.Today is the last day of JMSDF “Friday Curry” in ISEAD2018. Task Group members enjoyed their lunch and renewed vitality for coming missions.

(24, OCT) ISEAD2018 conducted Boarding Inspection drill on JS INAZUMA in the South China Sea. The ISEAD keeps posture of readiness to carry out any missions.

(23, Oct) The ISEAD2018 conducted a bilateral exercise with Singapore Navy to deepen mutual understanding and relationship between JMSDF and Singapore Navy.

(22, Oct) The ISEAD Task Group 2018 is in port of Changi, Republic of Singapore. JS KAGA welcomed a visit from the Japanese School Primary School Clementi Campus. The students and teachers have enjoyed ship tour with crew. In the afternoon, the crews invited to the Singapore Navy’s Museum and interacted with crew of Singapore Navy.
JS KAGA also had a honor to have visit from RADM Murray Joe Tynch Ⅲ, Commander Task Force 73, US NAVY.

(20, Oct) ISEAD2018 is in port of Changi, Republic of Singapore and hosted a reception on JS KAGA. The guests including foreign defense ministers who participated the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting – plus (ADMM-plus) enjoyed Japanese cultures through Wadaiko (Japanese drum) and martial arts.

(19, Oct) The ISEAD Task Group (JS KAGA (DDH 184)and JS INAZUMA (DD 105)) is in port of Changi, Republic of Singapore.
In the morning they visited the Japanese Cemetery and gave a prayer at wreath-laying ceremony.
Members of TG had a meaningful discussion with local academic experts of security and defense policy on JS KAGA.
In the afternoon Rear Admiral Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4(CCF4), made a courtesy call to Rear Admiral Murray Joe Tynch, Ⅲ, Commander Task Force 73, US NAVY.
The members of TG also visited the Japanese Primary School Clementi Campus for cultural exchange.

(18, Oct) ISEAD2018 arrived in Changi, Republic of Singapore and received a friendly welcome.
RADM Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4, held a press conference for local media and made a courtesy call to RADM Edwin Leong, Fleet Commander Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and His Excellency Mr. Jun Yamazaki, the Japanese Ambassador in Singapore. And also, RSN officers including Enlisted and Defense Attache group visited to JS KAGA for ship tour.
During the stay, it's scheduled to conduct variety of exchange programs with RSN. JMSDF and RSN will further deepen friendship.

(17, Oct) ISEAD2018 is sailing in the Indian Ocean and conducting various trainings to improve their seamanship.
JMSDF makes an active contribution to the peace and stability in Indo-Pacific region.

(16, Oct) ISEAD2018 is sailing in the Indian Ocean and conducting various training to improve their operational capability.
JMSDF keeps safe navigation and prepare to carry out every mission.

(15 OCT) ISEAD2018 is sailing in the Indian Ocean and Japan-India bilateral Maritime Exercise (JIMEX18 ) was concluded. The crews enjoyed recreation events and physical trainings for refreshment of mind and body after tough exercise.
The Task Group is ready to carry out every mission and intend to contribute to peace and stability of the region.

(14 OCT) ISEAD2018 conducted the Sea Phase of Bilateral Maritime Exercise between JMSDF and Indian Navy (JIMEX2018) including the Visit Board and Inspection drill with the Indian Navy Boarding team in the Bay of Bengal.
The main part of JIMEX2018 had been concluded and then a debriefing was held on JS KAGA.
Through JIMEX2018, JMSDF improved interoperability with Indian Navy.

(13, Oct) ISEAD2018 is conducting “ Japan India Maritime Exercise ( JIMEX )2018 ” with Indian Navy Vessels in the Bay of Bengal.
Task Group conducted various tactical exercises including Anti-Submarine Warfare and Replenishment at Sea(RAS) with Indian Navy ships.
Through the exercise, they will further improve interoperability between the JMSDF and Indian Navy.

(12 OCT) ISEAD conducted Anti-Submarine Warfare with Indian Navy Vessels such as frigate SAHYADRI, corvette KADMAT, corvette KIRCH, and tanker SHAKTI in the Bay of Bengal at "Japan India Maritime Exercise (JIMEX) 2018".

(11 Oct) ISEAD is conducting bilateral exercise with the Indian Navy (JIMEX18) . The ISEAD departed Visakhapatnam, India after the Harbor Phase of the exercise concluded. And the exercise sifted to Sea Phase. The Sea Phase schedules various exercise including Anti Submarine Warfare Exercise.
Through the exercise, JMSDF will further improve an interoperability with Indian Navy.

(9 Oct) ISEAD conducted the joint boarding inspection training with Indian Navy and promoted interoperability. And also RADM Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4 hosted reception on KAGA and invited RADM Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, the Flag officer of Eastern Fleet and other member of Indian Navy to deepen friendship.

(8, Oct) The ISEAD is in port of Visakhapatnam, India.
RADM Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4(CCF4), made a courtesy call to VADM Karambir Singh, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Naval Command and the leaderships of Indian Navy.
In the afternoon, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Naval Command and Indian Naval officers visited JS KAGA.
In the evening, JMSDF – IN Joint Press Conference was held on the INS Sahyadri. The member of ISEAD were invited to the onboard reception by IN and deepened friendship.

(7, Oct) The ISEAD arrived in Visakhapatnam, India. Sri Lanka Naval officers, participated in the Ship Rider Cooperation Program(SRCP), off the JS KAGA.
During the stay, the Task Group is planning a variety of exchange programs with Indian Navy.

(6, Oct) The ISEAD conducted a signal training with flag hoist and ship handling training in the Ship Rider Cooperation Program(SRCP).

(5 Oct) ISEAD2018 continues various seminars and exercises with the Sri Lanka Naval officers of the "SRCP".

(5, Oct) The onboard memorial service was held in the dusk and crews gave a silent prayer to the spirits of WWII in the Indian ocean.

(4 OCT) The ISEAD departed Colombo, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for the next destination and had goodwill exercise with Sri Lanka Navy focusing on Search and Rescue Operations. The Sri Lanka Navy officers who participate Ship Rider Cooperation Program (SRCP) also observed the exercise. JMSDF were able to strengthen cooperative relationship with Sri Lanka Navy further through the exercise.

(2 OCT) The ISEAD Task Group hosted onboard reception on JS KAGA to express gratitude to Sri Lanka friends.

(1 OCT) The ISEAD2018 enjoyed sports exchange with Sri Lanka Navy and invited elementary students in Local school to JS KAGA to cultural exchange.
Also, RADM Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4(CCF4), made a courtesy call to Rear Adimiral DNS Ulugetenne, Commander Western Naval Area and Vice Adimiral Sirimevan Sarathchandra Ranasinghe, commander of the navy.
Then CCF4 visited the Japanese Cemetery and gave a silent prayer and offered flowers.

(30, Sep) ISEAD2018 arrived to Colombo, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and received a friendly welcome. After in port, RADM Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4 (CCF4), held a press conference for local media and JS KAGA and JS INAZUMA conducted open ships to Japanese residence and others in Colombo.
During the stay, the Task Group is planning a variety of exchange programs with Sri Lanka Navy.

(29, Sep) The ISEAD2018 is sailing in the Indian Ocean and conducting Boarding Inspection exercise and martial arts training. They are continue developing physical and mental strength to keep readiness for all missions and contribute to peace and stability of the region.

(28, Sep) ISEAD2018 is sailing in the Indian Ocean.They are making every effort to improve their navigation skills and seamanship.Today is the day of JMSDF “Friday Curry”, Task Group members have enjoyed their lunch and renewed vitality for coming missions.

(27, SEP) ISEAD2018 conducted anti air firing exercise with 76mm gun and practiced for spot onboard inspection of vessels. Through these exercise, the units improved their operational capability and accurate firing skills.

(26, SEP) ISEAD2018 conducted joint exercise with Royal Navy’s frigate ship HMS ARGYLL (F231) in the water of west of Sumatra island. Through this exercise, JMSDF promoted capability of Navigation and enhanced cooperation with Royal Navy.

(26, Sep) JS INAZUMA (DD 105)

(26, Sep) The ISEAD2018 conducted a gun shooting exercise with 12.7mm machine gun in the Indian Ocean.
The units successfully confirmed their accurate shooting skills and operational capability.

(26 SEP) ISEAD2018 is making dedicate effort for ensuring with readiness against any situation in the Indian Ocean. JMSDF makes an active contribution to the peace and stability in Indo-Pacific region.

(23, Sep) The ISEAD passed through Sunda Strait to the Indian Ocean.
They are eagerly striving for further improvement in their seamanship by a signal training with flag hoist to brush their skill up for CUES (Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea).

(22, Sep) The ISEAD departed the port of Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia for the next destination.
After departure, conducted goodwill exercise with Indonesian Navy and made deepen the JMSDF-to-Indonesian Navy relationship.
Also JS SUZUTSUKI was separated from The ISEAD to return to Japan in advance and was seen off by JS KAGA and JS INAZUMA.
The ISEDA ( JS KAGA and JS INAZUMA) build up readiness capable to accomplish any missions and leads to a contribution to peace and stability of the region.

(21, Sep) ISEAD is in the port of Jakarta, Indonesia and held open ship tour of Inazuma.
The crews had good time with citizens of Jakarta city and deepened mutual understand and friendship between Japan and Indonesia.

(20, Sep) The ISEAD2018 conducted the Sports Exchange with Indonesian Navy, Call to local high school, an on board tour JS KAGA for Indonesian Navy, and open ship for Jakarta citizens during it stay in Jakarta.
This year is the memorable year of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Indonesia, and these activities deepened firm friendship of Japan and Indonesia.

(19 Sep) The ISEAD2018 is in port of Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia.
The Units visited Kalibata Heroes Cemetery to have a memorial service to the spirits of Indonesian heroes.
Also, ISEAD2018 hosted reception on-board JS SUZUTSUKI and JS INAZUMA and deepened strong bilateral relationship in mutual trust with Indonesian Navy.

(18, Sep) The ISEAD2018 arrived at Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, and received a hearty welcome.
RADM Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4(CCF4) and 1stADM Denih Hendrata, Commander of Main Naval BaseⅢ Jakarta conducted joint press conference.
In the afternoon , CCF4 made a courtesy call to RADM Yudo Margono, Commander of the Indonesian Western Fleet Command.
During the port call, they are scheduled to conduct a variety of exchange programs. They will deepen the Japan-Indonesia relationship, based on the strong bilateral relationship in mutual trust.

(17, Sep) JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105)and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) dedicated condolence as an on-boarded Memorial Serves.

(16, Sep) The ISEAD has been ongoing voyage smoothly and improve their high skill as the maritime force of a maritime state Japan. They remain eager to take surest measures for safety navigation and to build up readiness capable to accomplish any missions.

(15, Sep) ISEAD2018 is sailing in the South China Sea.
JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105)and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) are eagerly striving for further improvement in their navigational skill and seamanship sense while conducting various training.

(13, Sep) JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105)and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) are sailing in the South China Sea and making every efforts to build up their operational capability which leads to a contribution to peace and stability of the region, through various trainings .

(12, Sep) ISEAD2018 conducted anti surface firing exercise in the South China Sea. The exercise completed successfully and safely and improved their operational capability and accurate firing skills.

(11, Sep) JS KAGA (DDH 184) provided fuel to JS INAZUMA (DD 105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) with RAS (Replenishment At Sea) in the South China Sea.
The readiness for coming operation of ISEAD2018 is all prepared with this RAS.

(10, Sep) The ISEAD2018 is sailing in the South China Sea with conducting various training. ISEAD2018 is striving to build up their operational capability and skills. through these training. JMSDF will make an active contribution to the peace and stability in Indo-Pacific region.

(9, Sep) The ISEAD Task Group JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) is sailing in the South China Sea while conducting various training.

(8, Sep) The ISEAD Task Group, JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) are sailing and conducting training in the South China Sea.

(7, Sep) The ISEAD Task Group (JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105)and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117)) is sailing in the Sulu Sea.
The Task Group conducted Search and Rescue exercise with Philippine Navy Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C-90 off the east coast of Palawan island.
They enhanced interoperability and deepened strong bilateral relationship with Philippine Navy. They also held a Memorial Service at dusk.

(6 SEP) The ISEAD Task Group, JS KAGA (DDH184), JS INAZUMA (DD105) and JS SEZUTSUKI (DD117) is sailing in the Sulu Sea.

(4, Sep) The ISEAD Task Group, JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) is in port of Subic in the Republic of Philippines for Indo-Southeast Asia Deployment 2018 (ISEAD18).
The Task Group supported a seminar on ship maintenance for the Philippine Navy hosted by MOD.
Approximately 50 members from the Philippine Navy participated in the seminar.
LCDR Wakabayashi, the Logistic Staff of the Task Group HQ introduced the system and organization of ship maintenance in the JMSDF and the participants from both navies discussed actively and they have deepened mutual understanding through the seminar.
In the afternoon, about 100 members of the Philippine Navy visited JS KAGA.
In the evening, JMSDF received warm hospitality from the Philippine Navy at a reception took place on BRP Tarlac (LD-601) and deepened friendship.

(3, Sep) The three JMSDF troyers, JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) are in port of Subic in the Republic of Philippines for Indo-Southeast Asia Deployment 2018 (ISEAD18).
The crews of the ISEAD Task Group had a good-will match with Philippine Navy.
In the afternoon , RADM Fukuda, Commander, Escort Flotilla 4 (CCF4), made a courtesy call to RADM Allan Ferdinand Valdez Cusi, Commander Naval Education and Training Command of the Philippine Navy.
In the evening, CCF4 hosted a reception on JS KAGA.
JMSDF deepened strong bilateral relationship in mutual trust with Phillippine Navy.

(2, Sep) The three JMSDF Destroyers(JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117)) are staying port of Subic in the Republic of Philippines for Indo-Southeast Asia Deployment 2018 (ISEAD2018) .
Today the units engaged in preparation for the coming navigation such as loading fuel and so on.

(1,Sep) The three JMSDF Destroyers (JS KAGA (DDH184),JS INAZUMA (DD105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117)) arrived at Subic in the Republic of the Philippines for Indo-Southeast Asia Deployment2018 (ISEAD18), while receiving a hearty welcome. In this afternoon, The H.E. Mr Rodrigo R. Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines visited JS KAGA (DDH184). During the port call, they are scheduled to conduct a variety of exchange programs. Based on the strong bilateral relationship in mutual trust, they will deepen the navy-to-navy relationship. JMSDF will make an active contribution to the peace and stability in Indo-Pacific region.

(31 AUG) JMSDF Ships, JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105)and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117), are sailing in the South China Sea for Indo-Southeast Asia Deployment 2018(ISEAD18) while conducting trainings. The units conducted Japan-U.S. Bilateral Maritime Exercise with USS Ronald Reagan (CVN76) strike group, including USS Antietam(CG54) and USS Milius(DDG69). Through this exercise, they further improved interoperability and demonstrated the solidality of the Japan-US alliance which contributes to the peace and stability of the region.

(30, Aug) The three JMSDF Destroyers, JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105) and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) are sailing in the South China Sea for Indo Southeast Asia Deployment 2018 (ISEAD18) while conducting trainings. The Units conducted a live firing exercise of PHALANX and 12.7mm machine gun. The units successfully confirmed their operational capability and accurate firing skills.

(29 AUG) Three Destroyers, JS KAGA (DDH 184) JS INAZUMA(DD 105) JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117) are sailing in the pacific ocean while conducting various exercise, as The Indo Southeast Asia Deployment 2018 (ISEAD18).

(28, Aug) The three JMSDF Destroyers(JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105)and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117)) commanded by Rear Admiral Tatsuya Fukuda, Commander Escort Flotilla 4, are sailing in the Pacific for Indo Southeast Asia Deployment 2018 (ISEAD18) while conducting training of Replenishment At Sea (RAS) utilizing KAGA`s fuel transfer system. They successfully confirmed their operational capability and navigational skills.

(27, Aug) The three JMSDF Destroyers(JS KAGA (DDH 184), JS INAZUMA (DD 105)and JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117)) commanded by Commander, Escort Flotilla 4, Rear Admiral Tatsuya Fukuda are sailing in the Pacific for Indo Southeast Asia Deployment 2018(ISEAD18) while conducting trainings.

 (26, Aug) Three JMSDF Destroyers have left their own port for Indo Southeast Asia Deployment 2018(ISEAD18) commanded by commander, Escort Flotilla 4, Rear Admiral Tatsuya Fukuda. JS KAGA (DDH 184, Commanding Officer is CAPT Hideki Mizuta) and JS INAZUMA (DD 105, Commanding Officer is CDR Yuki Ochimizu) left port of Kure, JS SUZUTSUKI (DD117, Commanding Officer is CDR Takeo Kinuyama ) left port of Sasebo and they were looked off by their family and friends.
