The course also hosts international student, and letter of appointment was presented to the host family supporting him.

Over the next 16 months, the students will acquire the knowledge and skills required of senior commanders and staff officers through rigorous study and mutual professional development. The course also hosts international students from seven countries, and letters of appointment were presented to the host families supporting them.

The students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the educational program and departed for their respective new assignments. Distinguished guests, including a representative of the Rikuenkai, host families, and defense attaches from the respective countries also attended this ceremony. -

The students of the 89th AGS, the Advanced Command and General Staff Course, assigned to TERCOM, JGSDF, participated in the Joint Graduation Ceremony of the Senior Service Command and Staff Course, completing all required educational programs to serve as senior commanders and staff officers.
After receiving remarks from the State Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff, Joint Staff Office, the students renewed their awareness of the significant responsibilities they will bear in shaping the future of the Japan Self Defense Forces and departed for their respective new assignments. -

TERCOM, JGSDF hosted the Technical Comprehensive Research External Presentation Conference of the 53rd TAC, Technical Administration Course.
During the event, students presented the results of the research they had conducted over the course of a year to researchers from various institutions and engineers from industry partners. By sharing their research achievements both internally and externally, they gained the wide range of insights. In addition, through the active discussions and exchanges of views, the conference contributed to strengthening collaboration among industry, academia, and government. -

Over the course of approximately three months, with forging strong bonds with their peers, they cultivated the qualities and competencies essential for CSMs serving as senior enlisted advisors to General officers. From Meguro, they now embark with confidence on their next assignments of each units. -

The participants received a briefing from Terrell A. Ford, director, the Command Sergeant Major of USMC NCOA, also engaged in active discussions on personnel development and NCO’s leadership, as well as deepened mutual understanding between Japan and U.S. NCOs. -

In the middle of November, amid onset of early winter, with cold wind blowing through, Hokkaido Training Center, HTC exercised control and provided evaluation support for a live force-on-force exercise at the Yausubetsu Maneuver Area.
The exercise was conducted in a combat team configuration, with the core elements of both the 36th infantry Regiment, garrisoned in Hyogo and the 50th infantry Regiment, garrisoned in Kochi, reinforced by various supporting arms and services. -

In the presence of numerous CSM from across the Ground, Maritime and Air Self Defense Forces, the baton of the CSM of TERECOM was handed over from Warrant Officer MASTUNAGA to Warrant Officer KIYAMA.

Amid harsher than usual summer heat, Hokkaido Training Center, HTC conducted and provided evaluation support for tactical field training exercise in a force on force at the Kamifurano Maneuver Area in Hokkaido.
The exercise involved a task force composed of the core elements of both the 5th_infantry_Regiment and the 32nd_infantry_Regiment , reinforced with various supporting units. -

Over the next year, they will dedicate themselves to acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for senior-level commanders and staff officers primarily engaged in technical fields, through a diverse range of programs.
The incoming students took their first step with expressions of expectation and nervousness. -

JGSDF TERCOM and Test & Evaluation Command will participate in a field testing called Project Convergence Capstone 5 or PC_C5 held in the U.S. in order to verify information sharing between Japan and the U.S. again this year, as we did last year.
In addition to Japan and the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand and UK also participate in this experiment. -

On Tuesday, November 19th, students of the 17th Command Sergeant Major ( CSM ) Course visited the Ground Component Command’s Japan-U.S. Bilateral Coordination Department and the U.S. Army Japan ( USARJ ) for a study program.
Through interactions with JGSDF personnel involved in coordination with the U.S. Army and the USARJ CSM, the students gained insights into the operations of the USARJ and acquired knowledge essential for their duties. -

On Wednesday, December 18, 95 students, including both MSDF and ASDF officers, completed the Command and General staff Course (CGS).
They have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary for senior level commanders and staff officers through a year and a half of education.
They departed to assigned units and headquarters all over Japan, being expected to serve important roles of national defense from now on. -

The students learned much as they enthusiastically listened to the lecture showing Mr. Suwa’s wide and various work experience and recognized the importance of presentation through practice.

On November 28, TERCOM held the graduation ceremony for five foreign students of The 69th Command and General Staff Course each from Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Mongolia and Republic of Korea. Celebrated grandly by the Japanese students and staff, they left for their new posts being anticipated to become a bridge between their home country’s army and JGSDF .

In August 2024, COL KAWASAKI, Commander of Military Medicine Research Unit, participated in the Military Health System Research Symposium( MHSRS ) hosted by the U.S. Department of Defense, with around 4,000 military personnel from the U.S. and other nations attending.
She presented “Modeling of the shock wave generated by a projectile impact on bulletproof vest with LISW” at a poster session.
She also exchanged ideas with many researchers to apply the insights to future operations.

On Monday, August 26th, The Joint Staff College held an entrance ceremony for the Senior Officers Course of the SDF.
The students have embarked on a year-long journey to become competent senior commanders and staff officers.
On the same day, TERCOM held a host family appointment ceremony for international students, expressing gratitude to the host families for their ongoing understanding and support, while requesting their continued assistance. -

TERCOM continuously conducts ForceExperiments to verify the suitability of new combat methods and equipment.
In this verification, we collaborated with private companies to conduct technical tests and carried out live evaluations to determine how new sensor technology and UAVs can be integrated into the unit’s operational activities. We also assessed concealment methods against reconnaissance from above, including satellites. -

On Monday, July 29, four international students of the Command and General Staff ( CGS ) Course (two from U.S., one from India and one from Singapore) completed their approximately one-year study period.
Having deepened their understanding of Japan and the JGSDF , they are expected to serve as bridges between their home countries and Japan, contributing to the peace and stability of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
They were warmly sent off by their classmates and staff as they departed for their new assignments. -

They have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary for senior level commanders and staff officers through one-year education.
In the scorching heat, they departed to assigned units and headquarters all over Japan, being expected to serve important roles of national defense from now on. -

In mid-July, when the loud buzzing of cicadas make you feel the arrival of summer, combat teams based on 11th Infantry Regiment (Camp Higashichitose) and 30th Infantry Regiment (Camp Shibata) conducted a Force-on-Force FTX at Hokkaido training area. HTC provided a realistic operational environment and assisted the evaluation of unit activities.

On Friday, July 12th, TERCOM held the graduation ceremony for the 15th Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Course.
The 14 personnel spent approximately three months deepening bonds with their classmates while cultivating the qualities and capabilities required for CSM.
With the importance of taking “One step at a time” in mind, they embarked on their journey from Meguro in the rainy season to various units across Japan. -

We have tested “new logistics support procedure (maintenance, supply and medical support) in remote island areas”.
The verification included pre-positioning stocks using forklifts and other equipment, and remote medical treatment using smart glasses. -

This forum is an interdisciplinary public discussion on blast injuries, with participation from the U.S. military, National Defense Medical College, and so forth.
Military Medicine Research Unit collects information on the latest protective technologies and medical treatments, and reflects them on their research and day-to-day operations. -

On Wednesday, February 7th, TERCOM held the graduation ceremony for its 14 students of the 14th Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Course.

The first commemorative event featured a visit by Chief of the German Army.
On Tuesday, July 25, Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, Chief of the German Army, visited TERCOM .
During the visit, LTG Mais also delivered a keynote speech to the staff and students of TERCOM to further promote the engagement between the land forces of Japan and Germany.
