The delegation also attended a HA/DR equipment exhibition/demonstration.
Additionally, the participants visited the Hokkaido Government Office and learned about the local government office's role in disaster response and HA/DR cooperation between JSDF and local governments.
MDM/MAF delegation also gave a briefing on their role in disaster response and HA/DR initiatives to improve bilateral disaster response knowledge.
Furthermore, as a part of this program, the Director for International Cooperation on Women, Peace and Security highlighted the importance of women’s participation and gender perspectives in HA/DR operations.
The visit demonstrates a commitment to improving HA/DR bilateral capabilities through this three-year project as both nations seek to strengthen the Japan-Malaysia defense relationship further.
