Commander, Self Defense Fleet presented a letter of commendation to a staff officer of the U.S. SEVENTH Fleet.

On October 20, VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet presented a letter of commendation to CDR Timothy P. BAKER, U.S. SEVENTH Fleet.

Since autumn 2022, as a staff officer of the U.S. SEVENTH Fleet, additionally, as the U.S. SEVENTH Fleet Coordination Officer to Self Defense Fleet since summer 2025, he made significant contributions to the enhancement of the U.S.-Japan alliance as well as interoperability between the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) and the U.S. Navy.

The Self Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with the U.S. Navy, from the commander to the staff and unit levels, and act together to maintain readiness and immediately respond to any contingencies, contributing to the defense of Japan and peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
