C7F CPO Selective Volunteer Support.

On August 22, Self Defense Fleet Command Master Chief and Petty Officers joined a volunteer activity as part of U.S. SEVENTH Fleet CPO Selectee events.

CPO Selectee is the U.S. Navy’s traditional annual event to select candidates for Chief Petty Officers. This year, two Self Defense Fleet Petty Officers have been participating in the event for the first time in three years. Japan and U.S. Petty Officers worked together in cleaning up Mamonzan Imperial Japan Navy Cemetery in Yokosuka to promote friendship and deepen understanding of history. After the work, they offered prayers and paid respect to those who came before them in front of the cenotaph.

Through such activities, Japan and U.S. Petty Officers closely interact with each other on a regular basis and try to improve themselves, serving as part of solid foundation of the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
