The Fleet Commander, Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) visited MOC, Self Defense Fleet.

On August 26, Colonel Bertram ANG, Fleet Commander, Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) visited the Maritime Operation Center and had an office call with VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet.

Singapore was the first Southeast Asian country to sign a memorandum on defense exchanges with Japan in 2009 (revised in 2022), and this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore (with next year marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the RSN). The JMSDF and the RSN have been conducting goodwill exercises, primarily in the Indo-Pacific region, to promote friendship and mutual understanding. During this courtesy call, both commanders exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Japan and Singapore for years to come, as well as mutual cooperation regarding defense equipment, including the MOGAMI class FFM.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
