U.S. Naval Academy delegation visited Maritime Operation Center, JMSDF.
On June 8th, four midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) visited the Maritime Operation Center (MOC), JMSDF for a courtesy call on Vice Admiral OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self-Defense Fleet.
The visit to the MOC provided the midshipmen with insights into Japan’s security environment, the cooperation between the Self-Defense Fleet and the U.S. Seventh Fleet, and the strength of the Japan-U.S. alliance.
As Japan is a popular choice for USNA graduates’ first assignment, the visit to MOC help them envision their first tour in Japan after graduating from the academy. The Self-Defense Fleet looks forward to a future where the JMSDF officers and sailors and USNA graduates assigned to the seventh fleet, destroyers and other posts in Japan work together, further strengthening the rock-solid Japan-U.S. alliance.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness for any possible situation, with all its members including the Commander, staffs, and ships closely coordinating with the U.S. Navy, and contributes to the defense of Japan as well as the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
