Commander, Self Defense Fleet presented a letter of commendation to a staff officer of the U.S. 7th Fleet.

On 27 May, VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet presented a letter of commendation to CAPT Gene LATTUS, U.S. 7th Fleet.

Since June 2024, as a staff officer of the U.S. 7th Fleet, he made significant contributions to the advancement of logistics capabilities between the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) and the U.S. Navy, displaying a strong sense of responsibility, and a wealth of knowledge and experience. In particular, he shared information on the current status and challenges of logistics between Japan and the U.S. in a timely and appropriate manner to Self Defense Fleet. His efforts greatly contributed to the enhancement of our capability to execute effective and efficient operations through close Japan-U.S. cooperation.

The Self Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with the U.S. Navy, from the commander to the staff and unit levels, and act together to maintain readiness and immediately respond to any contingencies, contributing to the defense of Japan and peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
