JS AKIZUKI and JS HAMANA conducted a Japan-Australia bilateral exercise (Nichi-Gou Trident 26).
From 17 to 21 March, JS AKIZUKI, JS HAMANA conducted a Japan-Australia bilateral exercise (Nichi-Gou Trident 26) with HMAS TOOWOOMBA in the vicinity of East China Sea. Throughout the exercise, the JMSDF worked closely with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), strengthening cooperation and enhancing tactical capabilities.
Australia is a ‘Special Strategic Partner’ in the Indo-Pacific region, sharing not only universal values but also strategic security interests with Japan. Today, the JMSDF and the RAN has reached the stage where relationship of the two navies become closer and more important than ever before. The JMSDF will continue to strengthen the relationship with the RAN to improve security environment in the Indo-Pacific region together.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
