JS Ikazuchi conducted a joint training with Japan Coast Guard patrol vessels.

On 10 March, the JMSDF destroyer JS Ikazuchi, Escort Division 1 conducted a joint training with the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) patrol vessels Irabu and Settsu in the south of Okinawa, demonstrating information sharing and maneuver with the JCG vessels as part of a series of trainings aimed at strengthening comprehensive joint response capabilities and cooperation with the JCG.

Through the training, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities and strengthened joint response capabilities with the JCG. Recognizing the importance of continuously strengthening cooperation with each other, the JMSDF and the JCG regularly conduct joint trainings to tighten up defense and surveillance in the vicinity of Japan. We will further deepen our cooperation by conducting joint trainings under a wide range of scenarios to contribute to building up Japan’s seamless response capabilities for any possible situation.

The JMSDF is engaged in guarding Japan’s territorial waters as well as surveillance and reconnaissance in the vicinity of Japan from peacetime, and will work closely and firmly with the JCG to be able to respond to any possible situation, and defend our country.
