Japan Self-Defense Force participated in an annual Integrated Air and Missile Defense exercise.
Escort Flotilla 1, JS Maya and JS Kirishima conducted Integrated Air and Missile Defense with the U.S. counterparts during an annual Integrated Air and Missile Defense exercise in Yokosuka, Japan. The exercise helped the SDF to improve integrated missile defense capabilities and Japan-U.S. joint response capabilities.
With the goal of establishing a seamless Japan-U.S. bilateral missile defense network, the annual Integrated Air and Missile Defense exercise provided the participating forces an opportunity to enhance interoperability through joint response focused on improving tactical proficiency and coordination skills in integrated air defense and missile defense. Alongside with the U.S. military, SDF will continue to dedicate efforts to maintaining and strengthening proactive approaches and capabilities to achieve peace and stability in the Indo Pacific region.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
