The Commander of the Pacific Ocean and French Polynesia (ALPACI) visited the Maritime Operations Center.

On 24 February, RADM Guillaume Pinget, the commander of the Pacific Ocean and French Polynesia (ALPACI) visited VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operations Center. France, as a great power, have influence not only over the Euro-African region but all over the world, and is the only EU member state to possess overseas islands territories in the Indian and Pacific oceans and maintain military presence in the Indo-Pacific. It is also a special partner for Japan in realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”

In the conversation, they shared situation awareness about the security environment surrounding the Indo-Pacific region including the Pacific islands countries, and agreed to further promote Japan-France defense cooperation and deepen collaboration between JMSDF and French armed forces.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
