JS Akizuki conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise.

From 8 through 11 December, JS Akizuki conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USS George Washington and USS Dewey in the South of Kanto. Through the exercise, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities and strengthened interoperability with the U.S. Navy.

The Japan-U.S. alliance plays an essential role not only in defense of Japan, but also in ensuring peace and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region. Amidst the increasingly severe security environment surrounding Japan, the two naval forces work even more closely together to strengthen deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. alliance as well as our readiness for any possible situation, and will contribute to maintaining a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
