Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet visited the Maritime Operation Center.

On 2nd December, VADM Patrick J. Hannifin, Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet visited VADM OHMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operation Center for the first time since he assumed command of the U.S. 7th Fleet in November, relieving VADM Fred W. Kacher.

In the conversation, they shared awareness about the security environment of the Indo-Pacific region, including surrounding Japan, as well as agreed to continue and further strengthen efforts to improve interoperability between the two naval forces so that Japan and the U.S. can address various challenges with deterrence and response based on the Japan-U.S. alliance.

The Self Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with the U.S. Navy, from the commander to the staff and unit levels, and act together to maintain readiness and immediately respond to any contingencies, contributing to the defense of Japan and peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
