Commander, Philippine Fleet visited the Maritime Operation Center.

On 20 November, RADM Joe Anthony Orbe, Commander, Philippine Fleet visited VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operation Center. Japan and the Philippines are like-minded countries which uphold the rules-based international order, and we are deepening defense cooperation and exchange in a multifaceted and multilayered manner including in the domain of maritime security. Currently, we are focused on enhancing the effectiveness of defense cooperation and interoperability through the bilateral exercises carried out as maritime cooperative activity (MCA).

In the conversation, they shared situation awareness about the complex and increasingly severe security environment surrounding Japan, and agreed to further promote the defense cooperation and deepen the relations between the JMSDF and the Philippine Navy.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
