Visit to Maritime Operation Center by Commander Australian Fleet.

On 12 November, RADM Christopher Smith, Commander Australian Fleet visited VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operation Center. Australia is our special strategic partner which shares our fundamental values and strategic interests, and the relationship between our two nations is growing year by year.

RADM Smith visited the Maritime Operation Center after his visit to JS Kumano. In the conversation, they exchanged their views on defense equipment and shared situation awareness about the complex and increasingly severe security environment surrounding Japan. We continue to strengthen relationship between Japan and Australia by promoting defense cooperation.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
