Participation in the multi-lateral exercise “MALABAR 2025”.
From 11 through 18 November, JMSDF JS Hyuga and P-1 joined the Japan-U.S.-India-Australia multi-lateral exercise, MALABAR 2025 on Guam Island and in its vicinity. Through the exercise, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities and strengthened cooperation with the participating navies and air force.
The exercise was joined by USS Fitzgerald, a submarine and P-8A from the U.S. Navy, INS Sahyadri from the Indian Navy, HMAS Ballarat from the Royal Australian Navy, and P-8A from the Royal Australian Air Force. Through the tactical exercises and interactions between officers and sailors, the JMSDF further deepened collaboration and promoted mutual understanding between the four participating navies. The close cooperation between our four nations sharing fundamental values such as the rule of law is essential for realizing “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.” By promoting defense cooperation and exchange including multi-lateral exercises with allied and like-minded navies, the JMSDF continues to contribute to ensuring the peace and stability of the region as well as maintaining and strengthening the international maritime order.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
