JS Haguro conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise.

From 2 to 4 November, JS Haguro conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USS George Washington, USS Robert Smalls and USS Milius from the South of Shikoku to the East China Sea. Through the exercise, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities and strengthened interoperability with the U.S. Navy.

The Japan-U.S. alliance plays an essential part not only in defense of Japan, but also in peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region. Amidst the increasingly severe security environment surrounding Japan, the navies of both countries are firmly united to strengthen deterrence and response capabilities under the Japan-U.S. alliance and will contribute to maintaining a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
