JS SHIRANUI conducted a joint exercise with Japan Coast Guard vessels.
On 29 September, JS Shiranui, JMSDF conducted a joint exercise with Japan Coast Guard (JCG) vessels off the coast of Shiogama. During the exercise, the JMSDF was joined by 2nd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, and JCG patrol vessels PL Matsushima and PC Umigiri, as well as MH965 Helicopter.
Through the exercise, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities and strengthened joint response capabilities with the JCG. The JMSDF and the JCG are strengthening defense and security of the waters surrounding Japan by conducting joint exercises regularly, and will continue to work closely to be able to respond to any possible contingencies seamlessly.
The JMSDF is engaged in guarding Japan’s territorial waters as well as surveillance and reconnaissance operations in its vicinity from peacetime, and will work closely with the JCG to be able to respond to any possible contingencies so that we can defend our country to the end.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
