Japan-U.K.-U.S.-Australia-Canada-Norway Multilateral Exercise.
From 9 through 14 September, JS KAGA and JS AKEBONO, which is now operating under the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2025 (IPD25), conducted a multi-lateral exercise with the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the Royal Australian Navy, the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Norwegian Navy from the East China Sea to the Western Pacific. Through this exercise as well as the exercise conducted this August, the JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities and strengthened cooperation with the participating military forces.
While the international society is faced with the severe and complex security environment, the deployment of CSG25 in this region showed our recognition that security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable, as well as contributed greatly to realizing the vision of “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.” The JMSDF and the participating navies have so far conducted bilateral and multi-lateral exercises not only in Indo-Pacific but also all over the world as well. The JMSDF continues to strengthen multi-lateral cooperation through a various kind of defense cooperation and exchanges such as multi-lateral exercises.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
