Participation in Multilateral Exercise (Super Garuda Shield 25) hosted by the U.S. and Indonesian Armed Forces.
During 24 August and 4 September, the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2025 (IPD25) unit, JS OSUMI participated in “Super Garuda Shield 25”, a multilateral exercise hosted by the U.S. and Indonesian Armed Forces and joined mostly by Indo-Pacific countries, in and around the Republic of Indonesia (Java Island, Sumatra Island, Dabo Singkep Island) for the first time as JMSDF.
Through the exercise, JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities as well as enhanced mutual understanding and strengthened relationship with the participating countries. It was also a very precious opportunity because not only JMSDF but also JGSDF and JASDF participated in this exercise in order to strengthen collaboration of all three Self-Defense Forces through jointly demonstrating a series of actions related to amphibious operation.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like minded navies.
