U.S. -hosted Multilateral Exercise (Pacific Vanguard 25).
During 24 August and 3 September, the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2025 (IPD25) units including JS ISE, JS SUZUNAMI and a submarine as well as JS OUMI participated in multilateral exercise “Pacific Vanguard 25” hosted by the U.S. Navy in the vicinity of Guam Island.
The exercise was held for the eighth time this year and has been held since 2019. It was joined by USS HIGGINS, USNS ALAN SHEPARD, a submarine, P-8A and EA-18G from the U.S. Navy, P-8A from the Royal Australian Navy, ROKS WANG GEON from the Republic of Korea Navy, and EXCON Staff from the Royal New Zealand Navy. Through various tactical exercises, JMSDF improved its tactical capabilities as well as strengthened cooperation with the participating countries.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
