Visit to Maritime Operation Center by Commander, UK Strike Force.

On 25 August, RADM Robert George Pedre, Commander, UK Strike Force visited VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operation Center. UK is connected to Indo-Pacific region geographically and historically, and has a deep historical relation with Japan. It is also our significantly important partner with whom we share fundamental values and strategic interests. From 4 through 12 August, UK Strike Force led by HMS Prince of Wales conducted bilateral exercise with JS KAGA and JS TERUZUKI, JMSDF, and it’s now visiting Japan.

In the conversation, they discussed outcomes of the exercise as well as shared situational awareness about the security environment that is complex and becoming more severe than ever. They also agreed that security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable, and that Japan and UK would further improve the interoperability and deepen the relationship by closely working together through various activities such as defense cooperation.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
