JS HARUSAME conducted a Japan-EU (Greece) Bilateral Exercise.

The 51th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) unit, JS HARUSAME conducted a Japan-EU (Greece) bilateral exercise in the west of the Gulf of Arabia with HS PSARA, the Hellenic Navy frigate. It was the first exercise with Hellenic Navy for DSPE and JS HARUSAME has been vigorously engaged in defense cooperation and exchange following the exercise with ESPS NAVARRA, Spanish Navy frigate on July 7.

Through the exercise, we strengthened cooperation with the EU Maritime Force. We will contribute to deterring piracies and ensuring the safe navigation of merchant ships navigating in our operation area through exercises with partner nations’ navies in the Gulf of Arabia.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
