Visit to Maritime Operation Center by Ambassador of Australia to Japan.
Ambassador of Australia to Japan, Mr. Justin Hayhurst visited Commander, Self Defense Fleet, VADM OMACHI Katsushi at the Maritime Operation Center. Australia is a “Special Strategic Partner” to Japan, with whom we share fundamental values and strategic interests, and our two country’s relationship is becoming much closer year by year. JMSDF units under the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2025 (IPD 25) is also scheduled to participate in the U.S. Navy and Royal Australian Navy-hosted multi-lateral exercise (Talisman Sabre 2025) from 14th July.
In the conversation, they shared situation awareness on the current security environment that is complex and becoming even more severe in the recent years as well as agreed to further promote the defense cooperation and deepen the collaboration between JMSDF and Royal Australian Navy.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
