Commander, Self Defense Fleet participated in Fleet Commanders’ Round Table (FCRT).

VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet participated in Fleet Commanders’ Round Table (FCRT) 2025 held in Sydney, Australia. FCRT is an international conference opportunity in person for fleet commanders which is designed to share issues and concerns in Indo-Pacific region as well as the visions such as defense exchange and high-end tactical joint exercise opportunities.

At this opportunity, the delegation of the Navy from Japan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, U.S. participated in the FCRT and the delegation of the Navy from UK and France newly participated as an observer. In the session, the participants proactively discussed promoting mutual trust and understanding, shared opinions for the security environment which denies unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force as well as the solutions to strengthen the collaboration to maintain international order by Rule of Law.

VADM Omachi addressed in the opening remarks, “Now it is very hard to defend the country by its own efforts. Under the circumstances, it is necessary to strengthen the cooperation and collaboration with the allied and like-minded countries which we share fundamental and strategic values”.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like- minded navies.
