JS Yahagi participated in the U.S. -Philippine bilateral exercise (Balikatan 25).

During 4 April - 9 May, JS Yahagi from the JMSDF officially participated in the U.S. -Philippine bilateral exercise (Balikatan 25) for the first time. Through the fleet exercise, she developed tactical capabilities as well as enhanced collaboration with allied and like-minded countries.

Balikatan focuses on not only for tactical exercises but also international-wide activities. JMSDF, USN and Philippine Navy will continue to build defense stronger ties and create a desirable security environment.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
