JS ASHIGARA conducted a Japan-U.S Bilateral Exercise.

During 7-25 April, JS Ashigara conducted a Japan-U.S Bilateral Exercise with USS Dewey and other ships between Yokosuka and the East of Okinawa in the western Pacific.

“Through the bilateral exercise, the JMSDF successfully improved its tactical capabilities as well as interoperability with the USN. The JMSDF will contribute to the peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region strengthening the Japan-U.S. Alliance for effective deterrence and response,” CDR ISHIKAWA Shoji, Commanding Officer, JS Ashigara said.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
