Japan-U.S. conducted a Bilateral Exercise.

During 7-11 April, the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Teams conducted Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise involving Mine Counter Measure (MCM) and EOD on the island of Guam Island and its vicinity.

The bilateral exercise is important to carry out the missions smoothly and effectively as well as to increase the number of experienced divers who can contribute to improve the JMSDF’s mine warfare capabilities and respond to the missions in an actual situation. Through the bilateral exercise, the JMSDF successfully improved its mine warfare capability and the interoperability with the USN.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
