P-1 participated in the U.S. Navy hosted multilateral exercise (SEA DRAGON2025).

During 4-18 March 2025, P-1 from Fleet Air Wing 1 participated in the U.S. Navy- hosted multilateral exercise SEA DRAGON 2025 in the vicinity of Guam. In addition to Japan and the U.S., Australia, India, and the Republic of Korea joined the exercise. SEA DRAGON is a competition-style joint exercise for fixed wing aircrafts from the participating countries. JMSDF has participated in SEA DRAGON since 2020.

CDR SAKAI Hiroyasu, Commander, Flight Division 11 said, “This exercise is an annual, multilateral anti-submarine warfare exercise and we improved the JMSDF's tactical capabilities through tactical flights and effective information exchanges among the participating units. We also strengthened cooperation and deepened mutual understanding with participating navies and airforces.”

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
