JS KAGA conducted Developmental Test off San Diego, U.S.

During 5th Oct to 6th NOV, JS KAGA conducted the Developmental Test (DT) off San Diego, U.S. supported by the U.S. Forces.

On the DT, Short-Take off, Vertical Landing (STOVL) and Ship Based Operation of F-35B were conducted, the JMSDF collected the data necessary for ship-based operation of F-35B on IZUMO-class destroyers.

“We believe that the acquisition of F-35B operational capability for the JS IZUMO class destroyers will be enhanced Japanese defense capability and interoperability between Japan and the U.S. and will strengthen the deterrence and response capabilities of the countries as well as ultimately contribute to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. JMSDF will continue to work closely with the U.S. Navy for realization of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific, and will further deepen cooperation with the navies of like-minded countries.” VADM GOKA Yoshihiro, Commander, Fleet Escort Force said on a bilateral press with VADM John Wade, Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
