Self Defense Fleet participated in a Japan-U.S. Bilateral / Joint exercise KEEN SWORD 25
Starting from October 23, Self Defense Fleet is participating in the bilateral / joint exercise KEEN SWORD 25.
This exercise is a field training exercise to simulate the coordination procedures between the JSDF and the U.S. Forces, as well as among the JGSDF, the JMSDF and the JASDF, which is necessary for Japan-U.S. joint response to the defense of Japan. This is the largest-scale exercise among those conducted by the Joint Staff in this fiscal year, and its purpose is to improve the Japan-U.S. joint response capability in armed attack situations.
The Self-Defense Fleet also conducts practical and advanced exercises to strengthen the SDF's capabilities, Japan-U.S. response capabilities, and cooperation with the like-minded countries with the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air force, the Royal Australian Air Force, and the Royal Canadian Navy.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
