CINCSDFLT received a visit from Commander Strike Force, Royal Navy
Commander-in-Chief of Self Defense Fleet, VADM OMACHI Katsushi, received a visit from Commander Strike Force, Royal Navy, RADM Robert Pedre.
The United Kingdom and Japan are important partners in security cooperation, sharing the geographical characteristics of a maritime nation adjacent to a continent and having a deep historical relationship.
In September 2021, the Royal Navy's “Queen Elizabeth” Carrier Strike Group was deployed to the Indian Ocean and the waters surrounding Japan to conduct multilateral exercises and made a goodwill call at Yokosuka.
VADM OMACHI and RADM Pedre agreed that jointly addressing the challenges in the increasingly severe security environment through such activities as ISR in the waters surrounding Japan, and strengthening bilateral cooperation by continuing defense cooperation and personnel exchanges through various exercises, port calls, and regular exchanges between the JMSDF and the Royal Navy are important to ensure regional peace and stability as well as realize a “Free and Open Indo Pacific.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
