Japan-U.S.-India-Australia Fleet Commanders conducted quadrilateral meeting in MALABAR 2024.

VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, had a JPN-US-IND-AUS quadrilateral flag meeting in #MALABAR2024 with ADM Stephen Koehler, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, USN, VADM Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Indian Navy and RADM Christopher Smith, Commander, Australian Fleet, RAN.

VADM OMACHI also had bilateral meetings with each country before the flag meeting.

In the beginning of the quadrilateral flag meeting, VADM OMACHI expressed his sincere appreciation to VADM Rajesh Pendharkar, the host of this year for the meeting opportunity with the quadrilateral Fleet Commanders. VADM OMACHI shared his idea with the admirals that explains the purpose of JMSDF’s participation in MALABAR is to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” and the exercise is an opportunity to practice the maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

VADM OMACHI also exchanged opinions with the admirals in terms of development of interoperability as well as the future plan of MALABAR.

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
