JS MURASAME, the 49th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) Unit, departed for the operation.

On 5 October, JS MURASAME, the 49th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) Unit departed from Yokosuka Base.

VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, said, "Our efforts for the anti-piracy missions have highly been evaluated in Japan as well as the countries over the world since the counter piracy enforcement directly contribute to Japan’s safety in the sea lines of communication and it realizes a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.‘Carry out your own responsibility’, as your commanding officer’s guidance says, I am expecting all of you as an indispensable crew member to fulfill your responsibility and unite as a whole in order to demonstrate MURASAME’s capabilities and carry out the mission successfully."

In return, CDR HAYAKAWA Masahiro, Commanding Officer, JS MURASAME, answered upon departure, “The crew will conduct missions with team works and accomplish the mission in safe.”

The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
