Self Defense Fleet participated in the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) Exercise “Pacific Protector 24”.
The Self Defense Fleet (P-1×1 and Special Boarding Unit) participated in the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) Exercise “Pacific Protector 24” hosted by Australia in Sidney. The exercise consisted of an academic session, practices to acquire knowledges about PSI activities as well as scenario exercise which covers patrols for the P-1 in search of a suspected ship (simulated) and a JPN-USA-AUS-ROK on-site inspection exercise which the Special Boarding Unit participated in.
Through the exercise, we successfully improved PSI-related capabilities and strengthened relations with the relevant countries.
Through PSI activities in cooperation with allied and like-minded countries, The Self Defense Fleet will contribute to the prevention of the proliferation of massive weapon as well as to maintain readiness for the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
