JS SAZANAMI conducted a Japan-U.S.-Australia -Philippine-New Zealand multilateral exercise.

JS SAZANAMI conducted a Japan-U.S.-Australia-Philippine-New Zealand multilateral exercise as Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) with USS HOWARD, HMAS SYDNEY, P-8 patrol aircraft, BRP ANTONIO LUNA, BRP EMILIO JACINTO and HMNZS AOTEAROA in the South China Sea (The Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone).
“Through exercises in the South China Sea where is one of the important Sea Lines of Communications (SLOCs) to Japan, we successfully improved the JMSDF’s tactical capabilities and strengthened cooperation with the participating navies. The maritime cooperative activity showed a commonsense of value and a strong will to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific. The JMSDF will continue to contribute to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region cooperating with allied and like-minded navies,” CAPT MAKI Takayuki, Commander, Escort Division 4 said.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
