JS KONGO conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise.
JS KONGO conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USS BOXER in the east of Okinawa.
The Commander of Escort Division 5, Captain GOTO Masahiro said, "The U.S. Navy's amphibious ships have capabilities to operate F-35B aircrafts and it symbolizes the deterrence by U.S. Military Forces as well as U.S. Navy’s Aircraft Carriers. Through the exercise with amphibious assault ship, which embodies the strong will of the U.S., we improved our tactical capabilities and interoperability between the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy. We will continue to contribute to the peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region strengthening cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with the allied and like-minded navies.
