Commander in Chief, the Self-Defense Fleet held a “JMSDF & U.S. Navy Friendship Concert” in Yakushima Island.

On September 22, the Self Defense Fleet and the U.S. 7th Fleet held a “JMSDF & U.S. Navy Friendship Concert” in Yakushima Island and the JMSDF SASEBO Band and the U.S. 7th Fleet Band appeared.
This concert was jointly held by the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy to express our gratitude to the people of Yakushima for their kind support and cooperation in search and rescue for the USAF Osprey accident in November 2023.
The event was so successful that about 700 people came to see the concert resulting in some of the guests needing to stand.
On September 21 and 23, JS YAKUSHIMA, deployed from Sasebo, called at Yakushima and opened ship for the people of Yakushima to deepen the understanding about the JMSDF.
The Self Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with the U.S. Navy, from the commander to the staff and unit levels, and act together to maintain readiness and immediately respond to any contingencies, contributing to the defense of Japan and peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
