Japan-India bilateral Fleet Commanders meeting in KAKADU 2024.

Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, VADM OMACHI Katsushi had a meeting with Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, Indian Navy, RADM Susheel Menon, at the venue of KAKADU 2024.
Japan and India share common values and strategic interests, have established a "Special Strategic and Global Partnership" and further strengthening strategic cooperation between the JMSDF and the Indian Navy through defense cooperation, exchanges, bilateral/multilateral exercises.
The two commanders reaffirmed that a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)” by promoted Japan and a “Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI)” by india have many essential points in common and they agreed to strengthen cooperation and improve interoperability between both fleets in a wide range of areas, including exercises, mutual port calls by naval vessels, commander's meeting and staff talks.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
