Japan-Philippines bilateral Fleet Commanders meeting in KAKADU 2024.

Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, VADM OMACHI Katsushi had a meeting with Commander, Philippines Fleet, Philippine Navy, RADM Renato David, at the venue of KAKADU 2024.
Japan and the Philippines share strong concerns about any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force, the two countries are important partners in upholding an international order based on the rule of law.
The both commanders confirmed that the need to demonstrate firm resolve to realize a “Free and Open Indo Pacific” by conducting Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) with the Philippines Navy in the South China Sea, which is one of the important Sea Line of Communication (SLOC) for Japan and the Philippines. And they agreed to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas, including bilateral and multilateral exercises, mutual port calls by naval vessels, commander's meeting and staff talks. In addition, they also agreed to conclude an agreement of “Sister Squadron” at an early point between the subordinate force of the Self Defense Fleet and the Naval Air Group of the Philippine Navy operating C-90 Patrol Aircrafts Squadron.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region and the defense of Japan, as well as the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" in cooperation with allied and friendly navies.
