JMSDF Assets conducted a Japan-Australia-Italy-Germany-France multilateral exercise (Noble Raven24-3).
JS IZUMO, JS ONAMI, patrol Aircraft P-1 and SS conducted a Japan-Australia-Italy-Germany-France multilateral exercise (Noble Raven24-3) with Royal Australian Navy, HMAS SYDNEY, Italian Navy, ITS CAVOUR, ITS ALPINO, ITS MONTECUCCOLI, German Navy, GS BADEN-WURTTEMBERG, GS FRANKFURT AM MAIN, and French Navy FS BRETAGNE in waters and airspace from South of Kanto to East of Okinawa to improve their tactical capabilities and strengthen cooperation with participating navies.
The Commander of Escort Flotilla 1, RADM SAWADA Toshihiko, who led the Japanese units, said, “We are truly honored to have been able to conduct the multilateral exercise with European nations, ‘reliable and natural partners’ with whom we share fundamental values and strategic interests. Cooperation with European nations, which are connected to the Indo-Pacific region, is essential to maintain an international order based on the rule of law. We will continue to cooperate with our allied and like-minded countries to contribute to the peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and realize a ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
