Chief of Staff, Self Defense Fleet, RADM SATO Masahiro received a visit from Head of Navy Capability, Royal Australian Navy, RADM Stephen Hughes.
The both admirals confirmed that Australia’s “National Defense Strategy” stipulates that Japan is an "Indispensable Partner" and the relations between the JMSDF and the Royal Australian Navy has become stronger and more important than ever in recent years. They also agreed to continue working closely together, especially with the U.S. Navy, the allied navy of both countries, to create a more desirable security environment in the Indo-Pacific region.
In addition, RADM SATO explained the FFM's state-of-the-art capabilities and unique characteristics which enable response to various operations, manpower saving, unmanned operations, and reduced radar signature.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
