The Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024 (IPD24), 2nd Surface Unit, JS ARIAKE made a port call at Koror, the Republic of Palau.

The 2nd Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024 (IPD24), JS ARIAKE made a port call at Koror, the Republic of Palau.
During the port call, the commemorative event of the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Palau was held, attended by Hon. Gustav AITARO, Minister of State of the Republic of Palau, Senators, National Security Coordinator, and Director of the Bureau of Security, Ministry of Justice from the Republic of Palau, H.E. Mr. ORIKASA Hiroaki, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Palau, Commander, Fleet Escort Force, VADM GOKA Yoshihiro, the Commanding Officer of JS ARIAKE, CDR UMAZUME Akinao and his crew from JMSDF.
The Republic of Palau and Japan have a history of more than 200 years of relations, both maritime nations with share the challenge of stable maritime utilization, and are very important partners for realization a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
After the port call, JS ARIAKE conducted a Japan-Palau goodwill exercise with PSS KEDAM to promote friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and Palau.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
