The Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024 (IPD24), 2nd Surface Unit, JS HAGURO participated in a Multilateral Missile Defense Exercise “PACIFIC DRAGON 2024” hosted by the U.S. Navy in vicinity of Hawaii with U.S. Navy USS SHILOH, USS CARL M. LEVIN, USS KIDD, F/A-18, EA-18G,MQ-9, Royal Australian Navy HMAS SYDNEY, Royal Canadian Navy HMCS VANCOUVER, Italian Navy ITS MONTECUCCOLI, Republic of Korean Navy ROKS YULGOK YI I and Royal Netherland Navy HNLMS TROMP.
The Commander of JS HAGURO, Captain TOMIMATSU Tomohiro said, " In this exercise, we conducted a simulated launch of a ballistic missile target detection, tracking, and interceptor, as well as training on the interconnection of data communication systems, in order to improve our tactical capabilities in ballistic missile defense and strengthen cooperation with participating countries to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
