A courtesy call from the new Commander of the U.S. Naval Force Japan/Navy Region Japan.
On July 1, VADM SAITO Akira, Commander of the Self Defense Fleet, received a courtesy call from RADM Ian L. Johnson, the new Commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Japan/Navy Region Japan, at the Maritime Operations Center.
At the meeting, both commanders agreed to continue and further strengthen efforts to increase interoperability between the two naval forces so that Japan and the U.S. can respond to various challenges in the Indo-Pacific region with the deterrence and response capabilities based on our alliance.
The Self Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with the U.S. Navy, from the commander to the staff and unit levels, protect act together, and maintain ready posture to immediately respond to any contingencies, safeguard the peace and security of Japan and contribute to ensuring the stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
