The Second Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024 (IPD24), JS IZUMO conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise (Noble Raven24-2) with U.S. Navy USS RAPHAEL PERALTA in the northern water of the Guam.
The Commander of Escort Division 7, Captain ITO Masahiko, who led the Japanese unit, said, "Through the exercise, we improved our tactical capabilities and interoperability between the JMSDF and U.S. Navy. The JMSDF and the U.S. Navy routinely conduct bilateral exercises, we will continue to conduct realistic, high-end tactical exercises to further strengthen cooperation between the U.S. and the JMSDF.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
