JS SAMIDARE conducted a Japan-Sri Lanka goodwill exercise.

The 48th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) unit, JS SAMIDARE made a port call at Colombo, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. During the port call, the Commanding Officer of JS SAMIDARE, Commander KOGA Naoki paid a courtesy visit to Commander Western Naval Area, and conducted a ship tour for Sri Lanka Navy officers and sailors to deepen friendly relationship between the JMSDF and the Sri Lanka Navy.
After the port visit, the unit conducted a goodwill exercise with SLNS GAJABAHU.
Commander KOGA said, I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to conduct a goodwill exercise with the Sri Lanka Navy. Through the exercise, we have promoted friendship and mutual understanding with the Sri Lanka Navy. We will continue to faithfully carry out our assigned duties and contribute to the realization of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
