JS YUGIRI conducted a Japan-India bilateral exercise (JIMEX2024).
JS YUGIRI and Submarine conducted a Japan-India bilateral exercise (JIMEX2024) with the Indian Navy’s INS SHIVALIK in the southern waters of Kanto.
The Commander of Escort Division 3, Captain NISHIBATA Toshihiro, who led the Japanese unit, said, "We practiced high-end tactics during anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare training to improve our tactical capabilities and strengthen cooperation with the Indian Navy. In recent years, the JMSDF has conducted bilateral/multilateral exercises with the Indian Navy at a high frequency, and the interoperability between the Japanese and Indian naval forces has been steadily improving."
Japan and India, sharing common values and strategic interests, have established a "Special Strategic and Global Partnership" and further strengthened their strategic cooperation through defense cooperation including bilateral exercises between Japan-India naval forces.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies including the Indian Navy.
